OUR STORY

My name's Jade - Earth-steward, creature loving, adventure doing, camping enthusiast who's crazy about health and just out here trying to make the planet a better place one plant-based meal at a time. I'm the founder and head chef behind Wild Harvest Kitchen and I'm so grateful you've landed here!

​

WHK is a passion project that's been many years in the making. Coming from a background of hospitality with over a decade of experience working with food, cooking organically developed into a passion of mine. Which, after being diagnosed with Coeliac disease almost two decades ago and developing eczema 5 years ago, has been a close runner up to my passion for health.

​

My health journey has ignited something fiery inside to question the common paradigm of 'health' and to lead with a curiosity towards the miraculous power our bodies hold to heal and the ways in which we can support this process. After many years of experimenting with different diets and protocols, I decided to reign it in, simplify everything and go plant-based. I’ve witnessed firsthand the healing power of plants, and converting to a plant-based lifestyle rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains has changed my life in so many wonderful ways that I just had to share it with you. Now I'm not going to lie, it wasn't an over-night shift, it took me a good couple of years to wean off of meat, dairy and eggs. My pallet was hook, line and sinker into the standard western diet I had been raised in. But gradually as I did, the results spoke for themselves. And despite the health motivators, ethically it just seemed right, and for me it was as if all of the puzzle pieces finally fell into place. What we choose to put on our plate is so profound, perhaps one of the most profound decisions we get to make, and we get to make this decision every single day. A choice that not only affects our own health, but affects all the creatures we share this home with and of course our sacred Earth.

 

I've fallen in love with creating meals that not only taste delicious, are super nourishing and leave me feeling clean and energised but are both beneficial for my health and the health of the planet. Wild Harvest Kitchen is here to share just that. Consciously created homemade meals that are free of BS ingredients. Just plants made delicious. For your health and the health of the planet. OUR MISSION

Eating more plants is the singularly most important thing you can do for your health and the health of the planet. We're here to show you how. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, paleo or new to the plant-based world, eating more plants doesn't have to be boring nor do you have to spend hours in the kitchen. Our menu is filled with fresh nutrient-dense meals that will leave you and your taste buds feeling wholesome-ly satisfied.

OUR PACKAGING

We use 100% eco-friendly packaging. From originally starting with glass containers, we've transitioned to a mix of recyclable and biodegradable packaging. You can sleep easy knowing that in purchasing our meals you are not only reducing the amount of suffering in the world by choosing plant-based, but you are also helping to protect and conserve our planet for generations to come.

 

So make sure you give our containers a good rinse - the sleeve and meal tray can be placed straight in your house-hold recycle bin and the plastic film can be disposed of in soft plastic recycle bins. Our sauce containers are biodegradable, meaning you can place them in your home compost, your general waste or your house-hold recycle bin. Not only does this help prevent additional waste ending up in landfill, it also helps keep our land and oceans clean. Plus, the recyclables can go on to live another life, and be turned into something useful!

OUR MEALS

All of our meals are prepared fresh, using locally sourced ingredients, delivered straight to your door the very next day. They are plentiful in size, coming in large containers that are sealed for freshness, to lock in flavour and keep out any nasty bugs or bacteria. They last up to 5 days refrigerated and some of our meals are even freezer friendly, so you can save them for a rainy day.

Why
Plant-based?

Not only does a whole food plant-based diet provide all of the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants we as humans need to thrive, it also supports a healthy immune system, reduces inflammation in the body and it reduces your risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease and stroke. And if that's not convincing enough, it's also been shown to improve mood, reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety and even help slow or prevent cognitive decline and Alzhermer's disease.

Why
Oil free?

Oils are highly refined, processed foods that have been stripped from all their vitamins, minerals and fibre. What's left is a dense source of fat and calories. As mentioned above, diets high in fat can increase your risk of heart disease, but furthermore can reduce your blood flow and lead to insulin-resistance, the underlying condition that causes diabetes. We prefer to focus on getting fats from healthy whole food sources like avocados, nuts and seeds.

Why
Gluten free?

It feels like every second person has Coeliac disease or has experienced gluten sensitivity at one point or another, so it seemed fitting, considering our founder and head chef - Jade is Coeliac, that we create all our meals gluten free. As a bonus, removing gluten from your diet has been shown to provide many health benefits including reduced digestive symptoms and chronic inflammation, a boost in energy as well as supporting healthy weight loss.

Why
Refined-sugar free?

Refined sugar is neurotoxic to the brain and research shows how it can worsen mood, anxiety, and the ability to concentrate. Removing refined sugar from your diet can decrease your risk of heart disease factors such as obesity, high blood pressure and inflammation whilst it can also improve the health of your immune system and improve your digestion and sleep.

Why
Dairy free?

Similar to gluten, dairy or lactose intolerance is very common. Actually, it's 65% of the human population common. If you fall into this percentage and steer clear from dairy, you're doing yourself a favour. Dairy products are top sources of cholesterol and saturated fat. Diets high in saturated fat, increase your risk of heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in Australia today. Whereas a low-fat, whole food plant-based diet has been shown to not only prevent heart disease, but may even reverse it!

Why Preservative & additive free?

These guys often sneak under the radar in most foods. They're chemical substances made in labs that get added to food to either preserve flavour, enhance taste or appearance, or prevent decomposition. Some are synthetically-made (sometimes from petroleum!) and some are made from natural sources but nevertheless there's nothing 'natural' about them. They've been shown to increase cancer and cause potential side-effects such as asthma, hyperactivity, skin conditions, migraines, heart palpitations, learning difficulties and more. All reasons why you won't find any of these bad guys in our meals!
